Quick Start
Use the following instructions to add your iCal calendar to your RapidWeaver site in a few minutes only, in eight simple steps.
Step 1. Click the [+] button at the bottom left to add a new page.
Step 2. The list of available page
types appears. Select RapidCal, then click
the Add button.
The new page appears. There are a few more operations to
perform.
IMPORTANT : you must be connected to the Internet to
continue.
Step 3. Click the RapidCal Account tab to display information about your account, or to create it if it doesn’t exist yet.
This account is not linked to any sort of subscription. You will find more information about the RapidCal account in The RapidCal Account page.
Enter a name and password for your RapidCal account. Your name must be at least 3 characters long, your password must be at least 6 characters long. Use only lowercase Roman letters without accents, or digits. Space and punctuations are not accepted.
Click the Create Account button to make
sure the name you entered is not already used by someone
else. In case of problem, RapidCal will display an alert.
Check the Save in keychain option to make
RapidCal encrypt and save your password in your keychain,
so that you won’t have to take care of it anymore. If you
don’t check this option, you will have to reenter your
password each time you want to use RapidCal. In most cases,
you will want to check that option and let the keychain
handle your password automatically.
When the account has been created, RapidCal displays a
URL for iCal, which you should copy by
clicking the Copy URL button. This is the
actual address of your RapidCal account where your calendar
is going to be published, protected with your account name
and password.
Step 4. Open iCal and
select the calendar that you want to publish by
clicking its name in the calendars list.
In the Calendar menu, choose Publish… then
use the Publish on: menu to tell iCal that
you want to publish on a private server:
Then, paste the URL (that RapidCal returned in the
previous step) in the Base URL field,
enter your RapidCal account name and
password. Check the Publish
changes automatically option.
Click the Publish button. iCal publishes
your calendar to the RapidCal server.
Step 5. Go to RapidWeaver again and click the Calendar Options tab. Select the iCal calendar you wish to publish.
If the calendar you want is not in the list, select
Update Calendars List in the menu to force
an update, then select the calendar.
If you like, you can enter in the
Description text field a short text that
will appear in the web page under the calendar, for
instance to explain the purpose of the page to your site’s
visitor.
Step 6. Click the Preview tab. Your calendar is displayed. The events that relate to an “all-day” are displayed with the spot color as background; you may change the color if it doesn't fit with your theme. If an event contains notes, the text of the notes may be optionally displayed in a tooltip that appears when the cursor dwells on the event.
IMPORTANT NOTE — Due to limitations in Preview mode, you can't browse to another month. This feature only works when your web site is published to your usual hosting service (more precisely, it needs to access the page in http). If you need to display another month, select the month, then click the Preview button again to force a display update.
Step 7. Go back to Edit mode and select the Calendar Style tab. RapidCal does its best to ensure that the appearance of the calendar matches the RapidWeaver theme that you have selected for your web site. You can use the available options, including the default height for days (expressed in pixels) and the spot color, to make it fit even better.
Step 8. Publish your web site to your hosting service. Congratulations! Your calendar page is now dynamically linked to your iCal calendar. Any change entered in iCal is instantly visible on your web site, without any need to republish the page with RapidWeaver.
